Aerial Topographical Surveys

Precision drone surveys for accurate mapping

Drone-based topographical surveys use high-resolution aerial imagery to capture detailed information about the earth’s surface. Flying at survey altitude, the drone collects overlapping images with a typical Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) of around 1–1.5 cm per pixel, ensuring fine detail and accuracy across the site.

To further improve accuracy, Ground Control Points (GCPs) are established and surveyed on the ground. We use the Trimble Catalyst service for it's unrivalled reliability, accuracy and comprehensive network coverage.

These ground control points are incorporated into the processing workflow to enhance the precision of the outputs and ensure robust QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) of the data.

Using advanced geospatial photogrammetry techniques, the imagery is aligned, geo-referenced, and corrected for distortions.

From this, we generate survey-grade outputs, including:

Ortho-rectified orthomosaics – seamless, map-accurate aerial images.

Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) – showing the bare earth terrain, with buildings and vegetation removed.

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) – representing all visible surfaces, including vegetation and structures with classified ground points.

With the integration of GCPs, outputs can reliably achieve 25mm–50mm accuracy, depending on site conditions and requirements.

The exported datasets can be seamlessly integrated into CAD, GIS, and BIM platforms, supporting;

  • site planning
  • engineering design
  • "as-built" surveys
  • volumetric calculations
  • cut-and-fill analysis
  • progress monitoring
  • environmental studies
  • Time Lapse video and photographs

We deliver accurate, reliable data for confident, faster decision-making.

Here to help

Our drone aerial imaging and geospatial data processing services are designed around one core principle: every project is unique. We work closely with each client to understand their specific challenges and objectives, delivering bespoke survey solutions tailored to their needs.

By combining high-resolution aerial imaging with advanced geospatial processing, we generate accurate, survey-grade datasets that provide far more than just visuals—they deliver meaningful insights. These insights enable clients to monitor, analyze, and understand their sites in detail, helping them make fully informed, data-driven decisions with confidence.

Whether the goal is improving efficiency, reducing risk, or planning with greater precision, our services ensure clients get the comprehensive information they need to achieve successful outcomes.
